Editorial policy

What we publish

We publish living story trackers. A tracker collects every report about one development — a transfer, an injury, a contract, a managerial situation — and records how the reported position moved over time.

We do not rewrite or republish other publications' articles. We record what changed, in our own words, and link out to the original report so you can read it at the source.

What counts as a meaningful development

A new report only earns a place on a timeline when it adds something the timeline did not already contain.

• A new fact, figure, date or named party
• A change in the reported position (agreed, collapsed, denied, confirmed)
• A first report from an independent publication corroborating an existing claim
• An official statement from a club, league, player or representative

What we filter out

Football reporting repeats itself. When a report restates coverage already on a timeline without adding new detail, we mark it as repeated reporting and keep it out of the main timeline. It is still counted, and the count is shown on the story page, so you can see how much of the day's noise was recycled.

Attribution

Every development names the publication that reported it and links to the original article. We never present another outlet's reporting as our own, and we never imply confirmation that a source did not give.

Independence

United Matchday is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Manchester United Football Club, the Premier League, UEFA, or any other club or competition. We take no payment from clubs, agents or intermediaries in exchange for coverage or placement.

Human oversight

Story grouping, deduplication and timeline construction are automated and deterministic. The rules those systems follow are set and reviewed by the editorial team, and any tracker can be corrected or withdrawn by a human at any time.

Predictions

Match predictions are produced by a published statistical model, not by tipsters and not by an AI writing service. The model, its inputs and its full record are documented on our methodology page. Predictions are informational and are not betting advice.
